A scientific study proves Obertauern is Austria's snowiest winter sports resort
The snow guarantee claim is a common one. That's unsurprising as a reliable source of the white stuff is economically vital and ensures the existence of countless winter sports destinations in the Alps. In many places, however, a snow guarantee can only be provided by extensive artificial snow-making. Obertauern, which at 1.740 meters altitude is the highest winter sports resort in the Salzburger Land, has always been able to boast a natural guarantee of snow. This has now been officially and scientifically proven. According to a study by the well-known ski tourism researcher Günther Aigner, Obertauern is the winter sports resort with the greatest snow depths in Austria.
